ลักษณะ :

ไม้ต้น สูงถึง 10 เมตร ใบ เดี่ยว ออกตรงข้าม ตรงข้อมัก มี 3 ใบ รูปรีถึงขอบขนาน กว้าง 3.5-5 ซม. ยาว 10-12 ซม. ปลายใบแหลม ดอก สีขาว ออกเป็นช่อ 1-3 ดอก ดอกย่อยบานเต็มที่ กว้างถึง 6 ซม. กลีบรองดอกสีเขียว เป็นหลอด ยาว 1.5 ซม. ปลายแยก 5 แฉก กลีบดอก โคนเชื่อมกัน เป็นหลอดยาว ปลายแยกเป็น 5 กลีบ โคนกลีบด้านใน มีประ สีม่วงแดง เกสรผู้ 5 อัน ผล เป็นผลเดี่ยว สีเขียว รูปกลมรี ผิวมัน ขนาด 2.5-3.3 ซม. ปลายผลมีกลีบรองดอก ติดอยู่ เมล็ดกลมแบน จำนวนมาก

Characteristics :

Tree, up to 10 m high. Leaves simple, opposite or 3-verticillate, elliptic to oblong, 10-12 cm long by 3.5-5 cm wide; apex acute. Inflorescence solitary, with 1-3 flowers emerges from the upper-most axils. Flowers white, up to 6 cm wide; calyx 5, tubular, ca 1.5 cm long; corolla 5, salverform, purplish-red blotch at the throat; stamens 5, exserted. Fruit solitary, broad ellipsoid, green, shinny, 2.5-3.3 cm in diameter, calyx persistent. Seeds flat, many.

พืชถิ่นเดียวของไทย พบครั้งแรกที่ดอยสุเทพ จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ตามป่าผลัดใบและ ป่าดิบแล้ง ที่ระดับความสูงถึง 1,000 เมตร ออกดอกและติดผล ช่วงเดือนกุมภาพันธ์-พฤษภาคม

Distribution :

Endemic to Thailand, first collected from Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai, In deciduous and dry evergreen forests up to elevations of 1,000 m. Flowering and fruiting from February to May.
